All Parte Di Me jewellery is made from 925 sterling silver. But what does that mean exactly? The number 925 stands for the amount of silver in the jewellery. All jewellery consists of a certain composition of different metals, or an alloy. 925 stands for an alloy of 92,5% silver. The other percentage (7.5%) consists of another metal. In most cases this is copper. This is added to the jewellery because pure silver is very soft and pliable. This would cause the jewellery to scratch or even break down quickly. By adding another metal you avoid as it were the bad characteristics of silver.
Unfortunately it's not possible to prevent silver jewellery from becoming dull and less shiny through wear. This is a natural process and fortunately not harmful for your silver jewellery. By polishing your silver jewellery once in a while you can prevent this from happening and make your jewellery shine again. The best way to polish is with a silver polishing cloth. You can find this in our cleaning set. You can also get your jewellery clean by using washing up liquid or green soap. Make sure there are no chemicals in the soap.
